Venezuelan Beauty Queen, Eva Ekvall died after fought against Breast Cancer
This is very sad news, just taint the festivities of this season. Venezuelan beauty queen Eva Ekvall, who fought in February 2010 against breast cancer, died Dec. 17 in Houston.
The former Miss Venezuela, elected in 2000 and third runner-up Miss Universe next year, is leaving at the age of 28 years. Converted into a television journalist for the channel Venevision, Eva Ekvall published last year an illustrated book about her experience of the disease, directed by photographer Roberto Mata, called Fuera De Poco ( A out of the limelight ), also containing messages and e-mails of support from her family.
She spoke of, saying, "The pictures were shocking because no one had seen me that way. No one had seen me bald and without makeup (...) At first I was not sure to be beautiful. Then I realized that it did not matter. I was not supposed to be beautiful, I had cancer. " The former model also had some very harsh but realistic in for an interview with The Guardian : "It's painful to look in the mirror (...) You become a sort of strange animal, you will not recognize more (...) It was scary, especially because my appearance had in my work. I had to be presentable and not look sick."
The radiant Venezuelan lawyer had then turned into the sick, helping to educate the nation on this infection. Eva Ekvall leaves behind a small family: her husband John Fabio Bermudez, radio producer, and their 2 year old daughter, Miranda.
